Hi, and welcome to my FAQ
If you have any questions that were unanswered here, feel free to ask. Before you do though, please thoroughly read this FAQ before asking ^^
Thank you!
:star:= New Questions

General

Q. How old are you?
A. Secret!

:star:Q. How long have you been drawing?
A. I've been drawing way before I could remember, but I've been serious for about two years now ^^

Q. Do you take requests?
A. No. I don't have time to draw unpaid requests.

Do you take commissions?
A. Yes :) If you are interested, the information can be found either on my profile page, or here-->glaciesclover.deviantart.com/j…

Q. Do you take art trades/collabs?
A. Yes, but only with friends.

Q. Can we be friends?
A. I think that friendship is something that happens over time, not when someone asks ^^ ;

Q. Can you teach me?!!
A. No. Not only would it be difficult over the Internet, I also believe that you can teach drawing, but you cannot teach art, since art is something that is subjective and unique to each person's eye. I would just recommend practicing realism and quicksketching-- they are great for boosting your pace and accuracy.

Q. Can you check out my drawings and give me tips?
A. I have tried doing that, but it's a little bit difficult to keep up with everyone! However, I always tell everyone the same thing: keep on practicing! 8)

Drawing-- Traditional

Q. What kind of paper do you use?
A.  All of the traditional pieces that you can see in my gallery that are not watercolor are actually done on regular printer paper unless specifically stated otherwise!

Q. What kind of pencil/pencil lead do you use?
A. I use mechanical pencils ranging from sizes .2 - .5 primarily with H, HB, and B leads

Q. What kind of scanner do you have?
A. I have a Canon Pixma (A4) scanner, which is by all means a rather normal scanner in my opinion!

:star: Q. When I do pencil works, my lines come out too light when I scan it! How do you get your lines to be so clear/crisp?
A. Well, since I use the scanner (question above) it's not so much about relying on the scanner for my picture quality, rather than using Photoshop to restore the quality 8)

Q. Where do you get your supplies?
A. You can easily get them at local art stores, or the Internet. Everything is just a click away!

Q. What part of the face do you start with when drawing (eyes, etc.)?
A.  I always start with the shape of the face (the sides)

:star:Q. How long does it take you to do a sketch?
A. It depends-- for a simple sketch, it takes anywhere between 5-10 minutes. For a illustrations with complex, it can take up 5 hours.

:star:Q. How do you keep your traditional art so clean?
A. There are multiple ways to do it, honestly. For example, you either make sure your hand doesn't touch the paper, put a tissue/clean piece of paper under your hand, or constantly wipe off some lead smudges. What I do is actually a mixture of all three haha.

Q. Do you plan out where you're going to shade?
A. When I'm doing the preliminary sketch, sometimes I'll lightly outline certain areas that I'll shade, but overall, I don't plan my shading- It's rather spontaneous!

:star:Q. Do you have a tutorial for shading?
A. I do in fact haha;glaciesclover.deviantart.com/a… I hope this can help!

Q. What kind of color pencils do you use?
A. I actually just use a random mix of them-- some are Lyra, Crayola, and Prismacolor ^^

:star:For your colored pencil works, do you do an initial sketch in pencil?
A. Currently, I do not. The initial sketch and all of the skeleton lines are actually done in colored pencils-- meaning that you can see all of the lines that I've used in the colored pencil works c:

Drawing-- Digital

Q. What program do you use to color?
A. For digital art, I use Paint Tool SAI, and then Photoshop for tweaking colors, etc.

Q. How do you do make gradient sketches?
A. I would be rich if I got a dollar for each time I have repeated this answer, so here it is:

1. Open up the image in Paint tool SAI or Photoshop
2.  Create a new layer and set it to Overlay
3. Paint in the colors, or use the gradient tool in Photoshop

:star: Here's a tutorial by ~tachibana-su on how to add the gradients as well
How to use Overlay-Linecolour by Tachibana-su

:star:Q. What tool do you use for the Overlay colors?
A. I use the brush and water tools on their default settings
You can also use the Gradient tool in Photoshop ^^

Q. Do you use a tablet? What kind?
A. I use a WACOM Bamboo Graphire

Q. Do you use custom brushes?
A. No. I just use the default brushes ^v^

Manga.

:star: Q. 'I am a writer, and I am looking for someone to draw my manga'
A. I have received this request quite a few times! However, I cannot do large projects like that, especially since I plan on making my own manga. Thank you very much for your interest, though! : )

Q. So where can I read your manga/story?
A. I'm still currently working on the characters, story, and plot. I'm very happy that you guys are interested, and I'm working through it little by little!
Until then, please be patient ;//v//;

Q. How do you come up with characters/stories?
A.  I honestly don't know-- they just come into my mind, and I start drawing out my ideas! When I'm developing a character, I always take their personality into consideration along with their outfits, choice of weapon, etc. When it comes to a story, small scenes and ideas that pop into my head, I'll make note of and find some way to incorporate them ^^

Misc.

Q. Can I use your drawing for __________?
A. It really depends. Please ask me for permission ^^

:star:Q. Can I make a base using ___________ drawing?
A. No, please do not. If you truly like my art that much, I would rather you do a fanart instead;

Q. Can I color your works?
A. Again, it depends. Feel free to help yourself to the linearts that I post for free coloring ^^ However, the sketches generally are not for coloring unless I mention it in the artists' comment.

Q. Can I create a story off of you drawing/characters?
A. I've actually been asked this a few times~ Of course! <3 I would absolutely love to read it <3 I will please ask though that you do not claim the characters as you own, and mention that the plot/storyline in the story is not related to the actual one. And be sure to link it back to me-- I would love to see it! ^^

Q. Can I make pairings/courtships using your characters?
A. At first, I actually didn't understand what this had meant, but please do not-- I have given my OCs their own pairings~

Q. Can I draw a fanart of you character/picture?
A. Yes! I would be thrilled if you did! 8)  Please do not, however, make a carbon-copy of it--I would really rather see your own creativity and imagination shine through! : )

:star:Q. Do you use references for your semi-realism drawings?
A. No, I do not, unless otherwise stated. When drawing people, sometimes I will reference the people around me for proportions and such, but facial features, eyes, etc. are all made through my imagination.

Q. Can I reference your drawings? (for a pose, etc.)
A. Sure! ^^ Please credit me in the description if you do 8)

:star:Q. Do you use figures to draw the body?
A. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't. I usually draw figures beforehand for fullbodies, but otherwise than that, I don't usually use them ^^

:star: Q. Do you use tutorials/reference books to learn your anatomy?
A. No, I do not, although I probably should haha
I merely do quicksketching and observe the people around me, as well as works from others. ^^

Aah, I know this is sooo lengthy... but I wanted to be thorough!
Again, if you have any questions that I have not answered here, then feel free to ask, and I'll add it on here : )

:star: Thank you for reading!   :star:
